What Pilates is about

Joseph Hubertus Pilates as a child, had asthma and other ailments. He turned to exercise and athletics to battle these ailments. He learned to become enamored by the classical Greek ideal of a man balanced in body, mind, and spirit and he began to develop his own exercise system based on this concept which he initially named Contrology and later named Pilates.

Pilates requires a positive attitude and discipline. In order to gain the body you deserve, one must regularly practise and have patience to attain results.

Pilates is aimed at developing the body’s strength and flexibility through a number of exercises, targeting the various core muscles such as the buttocks, abdominals, back, spine and limbs.
